FOLSOM, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation has released the Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact for the Solano Irrigation District Water Conservation Project. The EA details a proposed $1 million federal share of a total $2,038,618 Agricultural Water Conservation and Efficiency Grant to allow the Solano Irrigation District to automate the Weyand Canal in unincorporated Solano County, California. The proposed action will better manage the approximately 31,000 acre-feet typically diverted into the Weyand Canal distribution system each water season.
Once operating on a 1950’s vintage conveyance system, the Weyand Canal Automation Project proposes modernizing the conveyance system with efficient, industry-leading technology. Newly installed automated control structures will efficiently distribute irrigation water to adjacent agricultural lands.
