Reclamation announces public meeting for Chapman Ranch Phase A channel rehabilitation project

WEAVERVILLE, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation, along with the Bureau of Land Management and the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board, released the draft Environmental Assessment/Initial Study for the Trinity River Restoration Program’s proposed Chapman Ranch Phase A channel rehabilitation project in Trinity County.

The Trinity River Restoration Program proposes to construct the Chapman Ranch Phase A channel rehabilitation project to increase salmon and steelhead habitat downstream of Lewiston Dam, and is scheduled for implementation in the summer 2019.

The public meeting will be held: Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2018, 6 - 8 p.m., North Fork Grange Hall, 131 Dutch Creek Road, Junction City.

The open house format will include meeting TRRP personnel, learning about the proposal, asking questions and providing input. Written comments will be accepted at the meeting. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and provide comments on additional channel rehabilitation projects in the Junction City area which are in an earlier phase of development.

The draft EA/IS was prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and the California Environmental Quality Act and is available at https://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa/nepa_project_details.php?Project_ID=35981 or http://www.trrp.net/. The documents are also available for review at the TRRP office, 1313 Main Street, Weaverville, CA and the Trinity County Library, 351 Main Street, Weaverville, CA.
