Reclamation announces public comment period for six draft interim renewal water service contracts

The following news_release was published by the Bureau of Reclamation on Dec. 18, 2020. It is reproduced in full below.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Bureau of Reclamation proposes to execute six Central Valley Project interim renewal water service contracts for two-year terms to begin March 1, 2021. Today’s release includes a 60-day public comment period on the proposed contracts that allow Reclamation to continue providing water service to the water purveyors until long-term renewal contracts can be executed. The existing interim renewal water service contracts will expire on Feb. 28, 2021.

The six CVP contractors are: California Department of Fish and Wildlife, City of Avenal, City of Coalinga, City of Huron, Panoche Water District, and San Luis Water District.

Execution of the proposed contracts requires appropriate environmental documentation pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act. The environmental documents will be released separately for public review and comment.
