SALT LAKE CITY - Flaming Gorge Dam Visitor Center will reopen its doors beginning Friday, May 21, after being closed for its seasonal closure in late October 2020 and delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The public will be able to access exhibits inside the visitor center and use facilities during normal hours. Guided tours of the dam will not be offered, but a portion of the walkway will allow visitors to view the riverside of the dam. The visitor center will be open daily between 9 a.m.-5 p.m., with increased safety protocols. To comply with the Department of the Interior’s mandated 25% pre-COVID-19 occupancy and safety measures, masks will be required and necessary social distancing practices will be implemented.
“We are so pleased to be able to re-open for the 2021 recreation season and offer visitors an opportunity to learn more about the dam and our hydropower operations while sharing the beauty of Flaming Gorge. We ask that all visitors adhere to the posted pandemic safety guidelines so that everyone can continue to enjoy the area safely," said Power Office Manager Nick Williams.
The Flaming Gorge Visitor Center is owned by Reclamation and operated through the Intermountain Natural History Association.
