HUNGRY HORSE, Mont. - The Bureau of Reclamation will close the Hungry Horse Dam Visitor Center on Oct. 10, marking an end to the 2021 season. The visitor center will remain open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. MDT through Oct. 9.
Exhibits about the history of Hungry Horse Dam and its importance to the Federal Columbia River Power System are featured. Outdoor, guided walking tours are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A maximum of 12 people is allowed on the tour. Tour availability is limited and subject to change. Hungry Horse dam is located off Highway 2 in Hungry Horse, Mont. Directional signs located past the Hungry Horse/Glacier View Forest Service building indicate the road leading to the visitor center. From Highway 2, travel approximately 4.5 miles to the visitor center located at the north end of the dam’s crest.
