Readout of Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield’s Meeting with Major General Francis Ofori, Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center in Ghana

U.S. Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield met today with the Commandant of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC), Ghanaian Major General Francis Ofori. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and Major General Ofori discussed ways to continue building on U.S.-Ghana peacekeeping partnerships to enhance peacekeeping performance and effectiveness around the world.
Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield expressed her appreciation for Ghana’s strong commitment to international peacekeeping as the seventh largest peacekeeping contributor globally, having contributed peacekeepers for more than 50 years. Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield and Major General Ofori discussed the KAIPTC’s current training priorities and challenges, including instilling a solid understanding of protection of civilians in today’s peacekeepers.
