FBI’s Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force and Aurora Police Department Catch Two-Time Armed Bank Robbery Suspect
Fifteen minutes after Michael Darryl Harden allegedly pulled out a gun, ordered everyone in the TCF Bank on the floor and got away with a bagful of cash, the FBI’s Rocky Mountain Safe Streets Task Force (RMSSTF) and Aurora Police arrested the 35-year-old gunman.
Aurora police took Harden into custody around 9:45 this morning after he allegedly took over the TCF Bank at 16999 East Quincy Avenue. Task force officers say he was wearing a disguise at the time of the holdup and had a weapon.
The RMSSTF has been looking for the bank robber suspect since Jan. 28, when Harden also allegedly held up Champion Bank in Parker (near Lincoln Avenue and Jordan Road) while wearing a disguise. In that robbery, the suspect was armed and ordered customers to the floor before taking money.
Harden will be booked into the Denver Police Department jail while he awaits transfer to the federal facility. He faces federal armed bank robbery charges, which carry a penalty of a minimum seven years in prison.
The suspect does not have a prior criminal history. No one was hurt during the robberies.
