Michael Harpster Named Special Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia Division

Michael Harpster Named Special Agent in Charge of the Philadelphia Division

FBI Director James B. Comey has named Michael Harpster as the special agent in charge of the Philadelphia Division. Mr. Harpster most recently served as the special agent in charge of the Criminal Division of the New York Field Office.

Mr. Harpster entered on duty with the FBI in 1997 and was first assigned to the New York Field Office, where he worked criminal matters related to Colombian and South American drug cartels. He was also a member of the New York Division SWAT team and participated in the FBI SWAT response to the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Throughout his career, Mr. Harpster has held leadership positions in the Counterterrorism Division, in the Newark Division, as the supervisory senior resident agent of the Newark Division’s Franklin Township Resident Agency, and in the Criminal Investigative Division.

Mr. Harpster will assume this new role in September.
