Request for Public Assistance to Identify Bank Robber

“Deposit Slip Bandit" Robs Again

The FBI and local law enforcement agencies are seeking the public’s assistance to identify the individual responsible for four bank robberies in the San Diego and Chula Vista areas.

The first three robberies occurred in San Diego between Nov. 28, 2016 and Jan. 11, 2017. On Feb. 16, 2017, the individual dubbed “Deposit Slip Bandit" robbed the Banner Bank, located at 279 F Street, Chula Vista, California.

In all the robberies, the individual wore a jacket or sweatshirt, dark sunglasses, and a hat. Additionally, in each instance, the robber provided a demand note stating he had a gun and demanded all the money in the drawers. The robber then fled from the banks on foot.

Robberies:

* Feb. 16, 2017: robbery, Banner Bank, 279 F Street, Chula Vista, CA

* Jan. 11, 2017: attempted robbery, Wells Fargo Bank, 9996 Scripps Ranch Boulevard, San Diego, CA

* Jan. 3, 2017: robbery, U.S. Bank, 5100 Federal Boulevard, San Diego, CA

* Nov. 28, 2016: robbery, Wells Fargo Bank, 1302 Garnet Avenue, San Diego, CA

Witnesses have described the robber as follows:

* Sex: Male

* Race: African with dark-colored skin, possibly Ethiopian or Somali

* Age: (approx.) 23-27 years old

* Height: 5’7" tall

* Weight: Approximately 120-140 lbs.

* Build: Medium

* Clothing: Sweatshirt/jacket, dark sunglasses, hat
