FBI Violent Crimes Task Force/Atlanta PD Apprehend Home Invasion Suspect Demonte Savalas Mitchell

ATLANTA-David J. LeValley, Special Agent in Charge, FBI Atlanta Field Office, in conjunction with Erika Shields, Chief of Police, Atlanta P.D., announces the arrest of Demonte Savalas Mitchell, age 32, of Atlanta, charged by Atlanta P.D. with multiple violent felonies in connection with a Jan. 29, 2017 home invasion of a S.W. Atlanta residence.

On Jan. 29, 2017, at approximately 7:35 a.m., it is alleged that Mitchell, armed with a handgun, made a forced entry into a private residence in the S.W. portion of Atlanta, Georgia with the intention to steal property at that location. It is further alleged that Mitchell confronted a juvenile occupant /resident inside and violently assaulted them, to include a sexual assault.

Mitchell is charged by the Atlanta Police Department with:

* Armed Robbery - Felony

* Home Invasion 1st Degree - Felony

* Aggravated Assault - Felony

* Aggravated Sodomy - Felony

* Criminal Attempt to Commit Rape - Felony

* False Imprisonment - Felony

* Battery Substantial Physical Harm - Misdemeanor

Today, March, 21, 2017, at approximately 1:00 p.m., Mitchell was taken into custody without incident at residence located at the 400 block of Ivy Chase Loop in Dallas, Georgia by the FBI’s Atlanta Metro Major Offender Unit, Atlanta P.D. Fugitive Squad, and assistance by the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office.

This case is being worked by the Atlanta Police Department and the FBI.
