United States Attorney Ron Parsons announced that a Lake Andes, South Dakota, man convicted of Felony Child Abuse and Neglect and of Simple Assault was sentenced on Nov. 27, 2018, by U.S. District Judge Karen E. Schreier.
Wendell Clark Archambeau, Jr., age 38, was sentenced to 60 months in federal prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $125 to the Federal Crime Victims Fund.
Archambeau was indicted on July 6, 2017. He pled guilty to one count of felony child abuse and neglect and one count of simple assault on Aug. 20, 2018. Each count of conviction related to separate child-victims. The sentence imposed for the felony child abuse and neglect was for 60 months, and the sentence imposed for the simple assault was for 6 months, with those sentences to run concurrently.
The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Yankton Sioux Tribe’s Law Enforcement. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jeremy R. Jehangiri prosecuted the case.
Archambeau was remanded to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service.
