FBI Media Alert: Española Man Arrested in Death of Renezmae Calzada
Malcolm Torres of Española, New Mexico, was arrested Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019, on a federal indictment charging him with second-degree murder in the death of 5-year-old Renezmae Calzada.
The FBI with the assistance of the Española Police Department arrested Torres in Pojoaque Pueblo, New Mexico, without incident.
Torres is expected to have an initial appearance in the U.S. District Court in Albuquerque on Monday, Oct. 28, 2019.
Renezmae's body was found in the Rio Grande River in Rio Arriba County, New Mexico, on Sept. 11, 2019.
No further information will be released until after the initial appearance.
The public is reminded that all defendants are considered innocent unless found guilty in a court of law.
