A section of Petersburg National Battlefield’s Poor Creek Trail has been closed permanently due to ongoing safety concerns. The area of the trail located between Gracie's Salient (near tour stop 5) and Fort Haskell (tour stop 6) has eroded due to heavy rain. The trail’s sloping landscape creates a high risk of further erosion which can create a safety hazard for visitors. Petersburg National Battlefield continues to maintain miles of trails which remain suitable for hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. For questions related to the trail system, please e-mail PETE_Interpretation@nps.gov.
