Angie Salazar, a U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) special agent in charge, was honored with the Outstanding Federal Law Enforcement Employee Award and recognized as an excellent role model for all federal workers as well as women in law enforcement, a recent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) news release said.
Salazar was praised for working relentlessly to support the organization and advance the HSI mission, spotting opportunities for development and paving the way to overcome such difficulties.
Women in Federal Law Enforcement (WIFLE) honored Salazar and two HSI partners during their recent annual leadership training held Aug. 8-11, the release said. They were cited for their exceptional bravery, outstanding achievements and significant contributions to the recruitment, retention and promotion of women in federal law enforcement.
“Women in law enforcement bring incredible diversity of experience and leadership to an instrumental component of national security and public safety,” Tae Johnson, ICE acting director, said in the release. “SAC Angie Salazar is without question a leader in the agency – with a demonstrated track record that will continue to result in significant positive impact within the Department and HSI for years to come.”
In Sept. 2021, Salazar was the only female member of Homeland Security Investigations appointed to Operation Allies Welcome, the agency's resettlement program for Afghans who worked with U.S. forces for more than 20 years, the release said. Salazar led a task force of more than 4,000 people from 35 federal, state and local agencies and nongovernmental organizations.
