WASHINGTON - The Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs today announced grants totaling more than $12 million to support data and information sharing across law enforcement agencies, in order to reduce crime and make communities safer.
“These investments will support data collection and data infrastructure development in states across the country, which is critical to understanding and improving the nation’s systems of justice," said Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Amy L. Solomon. “Up-to-date statistical data and the efficient collection and sharing of information across agencies also allows law enforcement, corrections and other justice system professionals to accelerate investigations and communicate with stakeholders, ultimately reducing crime and keeping our communities safe."
Grants from OJP’s Bureau of Justice Assistance, Bureau of Justice Statistics, National Institute of Justice and Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention distributed millions of dollars in awards to local, state and tribal jurisdictions throughout the United States and territories.
