DAVENPORT, IA - Ricardo Renteria Gutierrez, age 49, a Mexican citizen, was sentenced on Aug. 19, 2022, to 30 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Gutierrez was also ordered to serve five years of supervised release to follow his prison term.
Gutierrez was identified as a leader and organizer of a methamphetamine conspiracy operating in Colorado, California, and the Davenport area. Gutierrez, along with others, supplied large quantities of methamphetamine to people in Davenport. On Jan. 10, 2022, Gutierrez pleaded guilty to the charge. Gutierrez’s co-defendant, Oscar Cruz Guzman, age 28 of Riverside, California, was sentenced in April 2022 to 126 months imprisonment.
U.S. Attorney Richard D. Westphal of the Southern District of Iowa made the announcement. This matter was investigated by the Bettendorf Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration, and prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Iowa.
