The U.S. Department of Commerce will communicate with the public about CHIPS and Science Act initiatives in a transparent and fair process.
The program's implementation will be guided by a new online resource, CHIPS.gov, which includes implementation priorities set forth in an executive order signed by President Joe Biden, according to an Aug. 25 news release.
“The Commerce Department has been preparing for months for the passage of the CHIPS and Science Act, and we are excited to get to work implementing this historic set of investments in America’s innovation, R&D and semiconductor manufacturing,” Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said in the release.
She said the Commerce Department will move quickly to deploy the funds, but will take the time to perform due diligence, the release reported. They will take the steps needed to ensure its success for this program, which is an investment in the nation’s long-term economic and national security.
CHIPS.gov will be the single repository for all information. It will provide information on departmental priorities, funding possibilities, deadlines, requirements and more as it becomes available, according to the release.
The CHIPS Act was passed with bipartisan support and signed into law by Biden, the release reported.
