Bill S.4812 titled “A bill to amend chapter 44 of title 18, United States Code, to restrict the ability of a person whose Federal license to import, manufacture, or deal in firearms has been revoked, whose application to renew such a license has been denied, or who has received a license revocation or renewal denial notice, to transfer business inventory firearms, and for other purposes” was read twice and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary by the Senate. The bill is sponsored by Sen. Cory Booker.

Bill S.Res.754 titled “A resolution designating November 13, 2022, as National Warrior Call Day in recognition of the importance of connecting warriors in the United States to support structures necessary to transition from the battlefield”. The bill is sponsored by Sen. Jeanne Shaheen with Richard Blumenthal, John Boozman, Bob Casey, Tom Cotton, John Hickenlooper, John Hoeven, Cindy Hyde-Smith, Angus King, Amy Klobuchar, Edward Markey, Jacklyn Rosen, Elizabeth Warren as cosponsors.

The Judiciary Committee moves forward in some way on two bills per day, taking one action on average per day.

Most bills have a hearing where those involved explain why they are for or against the bill. Roughly 8,000 bills are addressed by committees each year but only about 800 make it to the floor of Congress, according to ushistory.org.

A 2019 report from the Brookings Institute argued committees aren’t capable of delving fully into the issues they address and are forced to rely on lobbyists.
