Mark Your Calendars -- NPLD Coming to Meadowood

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on Aug. 10, 2011. It is reproduced in full below.

Americans will soon be celebrating National Public Lands Day (NPLD) for the 13th consecutive year. Join us on Sept. 24, 2011, at the Meadowood Special Recreation Management Area’s Mustang Trailhead, 10702 Harley Road, Lorton, Virginia, 22079, from 9:00 am until noon. There will be a variety of activities for all ages to enjoy.

Choose from guided nature walks, a photo contest, kids crafts and fun games, an equestrian ride, mountain biking or explore the many natural areas at Meadowood. Then at noon, pick up a free NPLD t-shirt and relax with lunch provided on site.

This day will also also highlight the 10th anniversary of Meadowood. Visit a special exhibit that tells the story of the site’s 2001-2011 history. Special tokens to remember the day will be offered free throughout the morning event.

NPLD supports the Let’s Move Outside initiative. Everyone benefits from fresh air, sunshine, activity and nature’s welcoming environment. So reduce your stress level and come to Meadowood’s double celebration – a 10th anniversary and the 13th NPLD anniversary!

Thank you to Toyota Motor Sales, Inc., for continuing to sponsor NPLD, as well as Northrop Grumman Corporation, a contributing sponsor again for 2011.

For further information, please call 703-339-8473. For mountain bike reservation, please call Doug at 703-673-8727.

See you at Meadowood!
