Spring Road Closures on Public Lands

Spring Road Closures on Public Lands

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on March 5, 2013. It is reproduced in full below.

MONTE VISTA - The Rio Grande National Forest and Bureau of Land Management’s San Luis Valley Field Office will once again begin to temporarily close roads to motorized traffic to protect road surfaces during the spring season. Driving on soft roadbeds can cause unnecessary damage to the roads and may lead to increased sedimentation in creeks. The roads will be re-opened on an individual basis as road conditions improve.

For more information on current road conditions, visit the Rio Grande National Forest website at www.fs.usda.gov/riogrande or call the San Luis Valley Public Lands Center at 719-852-5941.
