BLM to Offer Competitive Geothermal Lease Sale in California

To help meet the nation's renewable energy goals, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) in California will hold a geothermal lease sale in Sacramento on Thurs., Sept. 11.

The competitive oral auction will take place at the BLM California State Office, 2800 Cottage Way, Sacramento, CA 95825. The sale room opens at 8 a.m. to allow potential bidders to register and obtain a bid number. The competitive oral auction begins at 9 a.m.

BLM California will offer for lease four parcels covering more than 9,871 acres in Imperial County. A detailed BLM California notice of the lease sale with parcel descriptions, acreage, lease terms and conditions, oral bidding procedures and requirements and other sale information is available online at: http://www.blm.gov/ca/st/en/prog/energy/geothermal.html.

Paper copies of the lease sale notice are available for viewing at the BLM's California State Office and El Centro Field Office.

BLM-California administers 89 geothermal leases encompassing 103,231 acres, which generated over 9.2 million dollars in revenue in Fiscal_Year 2013.
