MEEKER, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management invites the public to participate in a Sept. 27 event near Rangely to recognize National Public Lands Day.
National Public Lands Day is annually recognized in September to promote enjoyment and volunteer conservation of public lands.
“National Public Lands Day is a great way to get family and friends out enjoying public lands and contributing to improving public land experiences," said Aaron Grimes, White River Field Office outdoor recreation planner. National Public Lands Day events often have a stewardship message associated with restoring or improving recreation opportunities on public land.
The event scheduled near Rangely will target cleanup of an illegal trash dumping site. Those participating should meet BLM staff in Rangely at 10 a.m. Sept. 27 at the Rangely Recreation Center, 611 S. Stanolind Ave. While work gloves and NPLD t-shirts will be provided, participants should wear sturdy work or hiking boots and long pants. A parent or legal guardian will need to sign a volunteer agreement for those under the age of 18.
