BLM fulfills final Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act entitlement for Native Village of Newhalen

ANCHORAGE -- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recently made an important land transfer to Alaska Peninsula Corporation, successor in interest to Newhalen Native Corporation, fulfilling the corporation’s final land entitlement under the Alaska Native Claims Settlement Act for Newhalen.

With this final patent of 12,339.13 acres, Newhalen has received just over 73,025 acres of land surrounding the village, located at the mouth of the Newhalen River on the north shore of Iliamna Lake in southern Alaska.
