The National Wild Horse and Burro Center at Palomino Valley (PVC) will be closed to the public on Saturday, June 20 in order for staff and volunteers to assist with the wild horse adoption opportunity coinciding with the Extreme Mustang Makeover competition at the Reno Livestock Event Center June 20 and 21. Normal feeding, animal wellness and oversight operations will continue at the facility as usual. PVC will reopen to the public during its regularly scheduled hours on Monday, June 22. The facility is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Pacific Time, and on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. PVC is closed on federal holidays. The National Wild Horse and Burro Center at Palomino Valley is the largest BLM preparation and public adoption facility in the country and can provide care for up to 1,850 wild horses and burros. It serves as the primary preparation facility for wild horses and burros gathered from public lands in Nevada and nearby states.
