BLM Seeks Public Comment on Proposed Road Project in Eastern Utah

Vernal, Utah-The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah Vernal Field Office is seeking public comment on an environmental assessment (EA) analyzing the realignment and paving of a portion of the existing Wells Draw road, a major access route to Nine Mile Canyon. The project proposes paving 2.68 miles of road on BLM land, and realigning and paving 2.52 miles of road on land administered by Utah School and Institutional Trust Land Administration. All other segments of the Wells Draw road and the Nine Mile Canyon road are paved.

Additional information about the proposal is included in the EA, which is now available for public review and comment. An electronic copy of the EA can be found on the Vernal BLM website at: http://www.blm.gov/ut/st/en/fo/vernal/planning/nepa_.html

Written comments will be accepted through Dec. 16, 2015. Please reference “Gate Canyon EA" when submitting comments. Please note that the most useful comments are those that identify issues relevant to the proposed action. Comments which contain only opinions or preferences will not receive a formal response but may be considered in the BLM decision-making process.
