FAIRBANKS, AK - Artist Christine Nguyen of Long Beach, Calif., will give a public presentation of her art and experiences last summer as a Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Artist in Residence on Thursday, March 24, 2016, at the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center in Fairbanks. The presentation begins at 6 p.m. and is free to the public.
Nguyen spent a week in the Fortymile and Eagle area in July 2015 as part of the BLM's National Artist in Residence Program. The program each year hosts numerous artists to create images, objects, or performances that bring enjoyment and a deeper understanding of the public lands.
In Alaska, the BLM hosts artists during both the summer and winter. Fairbanks artist Natalie Schuldt was recently chosen for this year's winter residency. Schuldt will spend a week in early April in the White Mountains National Recreation Area.
The BLM is now accepting applications for a 2016 Summer Artist in Residence in the Fortymile/Eagle area. Dates of the residency are at the discretion of the artist and the BLM.
