MORENO VALLEY, Calif. - A section of the Pacific Crest Trail on Bureau of Land Management lands has been closed due to the Border Fire burning in eastern San Diego County.
The Pacific Crest Trail has been closed from the southern terminus at mile marker 0.0 to the north end at mile marker 14.0 near Harts Ranch Road/Big Protrero Truck Trail.
The fire broke out north of Tecate at the U.S.-Mexico border late Sunday morning amid record-setting temperatures across San Diego County. The fire is moving in a west to east direction and has burned over 7,500 acres. It is currently 5% contained.
