MORENO VALLEY, Calif. - Effective July 1, 2016, the Bureau of Land Management is temporarily prohibiting target shooting on public lands in western Riverside and San Diego Counties, California, due to hazardous fire conditions.
The increased risk of wildfire brought on by hot, dry weather, hazardous fuels and the restricted nature of these areas make this notice necessary. This order will remain in effect until fire conditions warrant a lifting of the restrictions.
"Due to increased fire danger, there will be a temporary restriction on recreational target shooting," said BLM Acting District Manager Thomas Zale. "This will help reduce any unwanted ignition under severe burning conditions that could pose a threat to the public safety on public and private lands."

Other uses of these areas are exempted from the closure, as specified in the order.
