Workshop scheduled to discuss socioeconomic issues related to Sonoran Desert National Monument's proposed target shooting amendment

PHOENIX - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will be hosting a socioeconomic workshop, from noon to 5 p.m., Aug. 12, as part of the Sonoran Desert National Monument Resource Management Plan Amendment (RMPA) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). It is focused solely on topics related to recreational target shooting on the Sonoran Desert National Monument only.

The workshop will be held at the Arizona Game & Fish Department building at 5000 West Carefree Highway in Phoenix.

The socioeconomic workshop is part of the process needed for the preparation of the EIS. The workshop creates a forum for user and community organizations, local and regional businesses, as well as local, state, tribal and federal government entities to discuss economic and social conditions and issues that may result from the proposed RMPA.
