SILT, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management and Roaring Fork Mountain Bike Association are seeking volunteers to complete a mountain bike trail reroute at the Crown for National Public Lands Day Sept 24.
Earlier this year, the BLM and RFMBA partnered to reroute the Lower Buckhorn Trail and create a more sustainable and enjoyable trail. Volunteers will assist with removing the old trail, which is the last step of this project.
Volunteers will stage at 9 a.m. at the parking area on Hook Spur Road near Willets Lane in Basalt before mountain biking 4.5 miles to the work site. Volunteers should bring their mountain bikes and safety equipment, work gloves, water, snacks, and wear shoes suitable for biking and hiking. Work is expected to last up to three hours, with opportunities for a mountain bike ride in the area after volunteering.
Water, snacks, gloves and t-shirts will be provided.
