Winnemucca, Nev. - The Bureau of Land Management, Winnemucca District (BLM) is taking all possible actions to address road damage caused by recent flooding and will prioritize maintenance based on public health and safety. The district has put in a request to the State for local assistance per the declared State of Emergency. Pre-staging of heavy equipment is on-going in anticipation of weather. This will allow quicker repair to take place if feasible. The expected start date for road repair is Tuesday, January 17th, weather permitting.
As of Tuesday, January 10th, the following roads are considered impassable:
* High Road (Road 2048) from Hycroft Mine to Gerlach;
* Sulfur-Jackson Road (Road 2409)
* Soldier Meadows Road (Road 200)
The Winnemucca District is asking the public not to travel on any of the off-highway roads on the district due to the damage caused by flooding. The roads on the district that have been inventoried are completely impassable and pose a threat to public safety. There are still several roads that have not been inventoried but are presumed to pose a significant risk to travelers.
