SAFFORD, Ariz. - The public is invited to provide input on the development of a vegetation management plan for Bureau of Land Management (BLM) managed public lands within the jurisdiction of the Safford Field Office. The management plan, including an Environmental Assessment (EA), is needed to address the encroachment of invasive plants and noxious weeds into upland and riparian-wetland vegetation communities.
"The goal of the plan is to help us maintain or improve native plant communities within the Safford Field Office management area by allowing the use of a variety of treatments," said Scott Cooke, Safford Field Manager.
The BLM will host two public scoping meetings regarding the Proposed Action and alternatives. BLM staff will be available to explain project details, gather information from interested individuals or groups, and answer questions about the project. The BLM is especially interested in hearing about suggested alternative actions, other projects occurring in the project area, concerns about potential impacts, and suggested mitigation measures. A brief presentation will begin approximately 20 minutes after the meeting start time, as follows:

Comments on the proposal should be specific and provide information on alternatives, potential issues or concerns.
