ANCHORAGE - The Bureau of Land Management Alaska is debuting the release of a new map series designed specifically for mobile devices.
Outdoor enthusiasts regularly use technology to explore the great state of Alaska. The Digital Public Information Map Series (DPIMS) contains a new generation of maps spanning much of the state. Developed in response to heavy public interest, the new maps provide improved access to BLM-managed lands and aid public safety initiatives.
After initial download, the georeferenced PDF maps work on GPS-enabled mobile devices with an installed mobile map application. With the most current geospatial data embedded into each map and a common look and feel across the entire series, developers designed the product to be up-to-date and user-friendly.
BLM Alaska staff and volunteers will be at The Great Alaska Sportsman Show in Anchorage to debut the map series from March 30 to April 2. Following its Anchorage debut, DPIMS will again be on display at the Fairbanks Outdoor Show from April 21 to 23.
