DURANGO, Colo. - The Bureau of Land Management and City of Durango will reopen the Grandview Ridge, Animas City Mountain and Twin Buttes recreation areas to the public on Saturday, April 15, 2017. The reopened areas include Sale Barn, Big Canyon, and Three Springs trailheads; South Rim and Sidewinder trails on BLM-managed land; BLM trails accessed from the Carbon Junction trailhead; the trails in the upper portion of Animas City Mountain; and trails in Twin Buttes.
“We appreciate the public’s willingness to adhere to the winter closures to ensure habitat is protected for big game," said Connie Clementson, BLM Tres Rios Field Manager. “As you make plans to enjoy these areas, please keep safety and fire restrictions in mind before you enjoy your public lands."
Fire restrictions include limiting campfires to fire rings or grates within designated camp or recreation sites. For specific details, refer to signs posted at trailheads or request a copy from the Tres Rios Field Office.
