ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Bureau of Land Management invites trail lovers of all ages to the BLM Campbell Tract on Saturday, June 3, 2017 to celebrate National Trails Day by participating in volunteer activities to make the area safer and more visually appealing.

BLM staff and volunteers will improve access to stream areas that have been eroded by Campbell Creek, build and repair fencing, and plant trees in areas that have been affected by recreation activities.

Volunteers will also spruce up the gardens and grounds of the BLM Campbell Creek Science Center.

All tools will be provided. Wear sturdy waterproof footwear and dress in layers to be prepared for possible rain and wind.

Volunteer registration begins at 8:30 AM at the Science Center; work projects begin at 9:00 AM. After a morning of outdoor work, volunteers will gather at the Science Center for free pizza provided by the Friends of Campbell Creek Science Center and a demonstration on how to safely use bear spray.

The entrance to the Campbell Tract is just off Elmore Road near E. 68th Avenue.
