BLM Concludes Boone Spring Emergency Horse Gather

ELKO, Nev. - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) concluded a wild horse emergency gather on the Antelope Valley Herd Management Area (HMA) located on private land near Bonne Springs, approximately 40 miles southwest of Wendover, NV on June 7.

The BLM gathered 96 wild horses (46 studs, 35 mares, 15 foals) and removed 94 (45 studs, 34 mares, 15 foals) wild horses that were transported to Indian Lakes Off-Range Corral, Fallon, NV. One stud was released back onto the range. One 13-year-old mare died at the gather location.

The Appropriate Management Level (AML) for the Antelope Valley Herd Management Area where the Boone Spring area is located, is 155-259 adult wild horses. As of March 1, 2017, the BLM estimated the population at 1,320 wild horses (not including foals born this year).
