EL DORADO HILLS, Calif. - The "Mother Lode Epic" competitive mountain bike race will cross Bureau of Land Management Mother Lode Field Office public lands in El Dorado and Sacramento counties from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 19. Other runners, bikers, walkers and horseback riders along the South Fork of the American River Trail and Cronan Ranch may need to use alternate routes during the race.
The race, approximately 26.6 miles long, is expected to draw about 150-200 participants and will start at 8:30 a.m. at the Magnolia Ranch Trailhead, located five miles north of Coloma, California, on Hwy 49, and will end at Folsom Lake. Event volunteers will be stationed along the course to direct other recreationists to either wait or take another path. Only nine miles of the event will be located on BLM-managed public land, with the remaining course crossing private and state lands. No public lands will be closed during the race.
