WASHINGTON - The Bureau of Land Management today announced its latest update to the National Fluids Lease Sale System, an online automation effort that allows the public and industry to nominate public land for oil and gas development. The update increases transparency by making it easier for anyone to monitor the status of a nomination.
“The BLM is always looking for more efficient ways to administer its oil and gas leasing program, which is consistent with the Administration’s priorities of American energy independence and job growth" said BLM Acting Director Michael D. Nedd. “The NFLSS provides greater efficiencies, and is in line with Secretarial Order 3354, which in part calls for greater efficiency in oil and gas leasing."
The update, at https://nflss.blm.gov, includes new functionality that allows the public and industry to track Expressions of Interest, view sale-related documents and protest information, and monitor the land status as it goes through the leasing process. As a result, lands meeting leasing requirements can be made available for leasing sooner.
Since the system was launched in September 2016, users have entered 1,252 EOIs into the NFLSS.
