LAKEVIEW, Ore. - The Bureau of Land Management today announced it will hold a meeting of the Southeast Oregon Resource Advisory Council, demonstrating that partnerships and inclusion are vital to managing sustainable, working public lands. The public is welcome to attend the meeting which will occur on Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 16-17, at Lakeview Interagency Office from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday and 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday.
Planned agenda items at the meeting include field visits to the Beaty Butte Wild Horse Training Center and a local sunstone mine; new tribal consultation guidelines; sage grouse; fuels reduction; and the 2017 wildfire season.
“The Southeast Oregon Resource Advisory Committee is an asset to its federal members," said Vale District Manager Don Gonzalez. “We are able to draw from members' expertise and community connections to better address resource issues."
A half-hour comment period, during which the public may address the RAC, will begin at noon Tuesday. Depending on the number of people wishing to comment and time available, the amount of time for individual oral comments may be limited.
Resource Advisory Councils are critical in assisting the BLM in continuing to be a good neighbor in the communities we serve. The 14-member RAC provides advice and recommendations to the BLM on resource and land management issues within the BLM Lakeview, Vale and Burns districts.
