CASPER Wyo. - The Bureau of Land Management will be burning slash piles on Muddy Mountain, Casper Mountain, and Bates Creek area.
The slash piles and debris were created from forest health and hazardous fuels reductions projects on BLM Administered lands in the Casper Field Office. The goal of these projects is the improvement of the health of aspen woodlands, ponderosa and lodgepole pine communities, as well as to proactively reduce hazardous fuel levels in Wildland Urban Interface and high traffic recreation areas in cooperation with state and local partners. The BLM believes that partnerships and inclusion are vital to managing sustainable, working public lands.
Burning may begin as early as Oct. 5, 2017 and may continue until the spring of 2018 as conditions allow. All prescribed burn projects will be conducted in accordance with approved burn plans.
