FAIRBANKS, Alaska - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will host three Artists in Residence on Alaska wild and scenic rivers next summer as part of BLM’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of the passage of the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act.
The BLM’s Eastern Interior Field Office is accepting applications through February 5, 2018, for three artists who will each spend a week on one of the three wild and scenic rivers it manages: Beaver Creek, Birch Creek and the Fortymile.
“We’re excited to have artists share the scenic beauty and unique stories of Alaska’s wild and scenic rivers with the public," said Eastern Interior Field Manager Adam Carr.
The Artist-in-Residence Program is committed to supporting artistic efforts from all mediums that support public lands. BLM staff will accompany artists, and the agency will provide most of the necessary equipment as well as transportation between Fairbanks and the river. Artists are responsible for transportation to Fairbanks.
