BLM seeks public input on Juniper Flats Road proposal for road improvements and maintenance

The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on Dec. 7, 2017. It is reproduced in full below.

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Bureau of Land Management invites the public to provide input on a request for a 40-foot wide right-of-way along Juniper Flats Road, totaling 2.71 acres. The ROW includes 2,950 feet of existing roadway across BLM-managed lands that connect to the existing Juniper Flats Road.

The Juniper Flats Road Maintenance Association would utilize the ROW to improve and maintain the existing road that crosses BLM-managed public lands, providing access to adjoining private property.

“Working together on projects that improve public access and driver safety helps us better serve our community," said Jayme Lopez, BLM Tucson Field Office Manager.

The BLM is developing an Environmental Assessment to identify and address environmental issues associated with the proposed ROW.

A 30-day public comment period began on Dec. 5. Comments on the Proposed Action and other issues will be accepted by mail: Attn: Leslie Uhr, 3201 E. Universal Way, Tucson, AZ 85756 and email at blm_az_southeasternarizonacomments@blm.gov.

Comments will be most useful if they provide information or concerns specific to the Proposed Action. For more information on the proposal or to review documents go to https://go.usa.gov/xnbsX.
