Northwest Oregon: Victorian Holiday Celebration at Yaquina Head 2017

Newport, Ore. - The Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area will host a Victorian Holiday Celebration starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 9. Visitors are invited to take a step back in time and relive the 19th century holiday traditions enjoyed by families of Yaquina Head’s lighthouse keepers. Admission is free. This unique event connects kids to public lands and to America’s natural and cultural heritage.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

10:00 a.m. - Open Caroling

11:00 a.m. - Storytelling with Doug Force

12:00 p.m. - Mary-Beth Nickel & Friends: Harp, Flutes, and Drum

1:00 p.m. - Eddyville Charter School African Drumming Group

2:00 p.m. - Spindrift: Hammered Dulcimer, Mandolin and Viola

3:00 p.m. - Coastalaires Barbershop Chorus

“Visitors can enjoy traditional music by local musicians, making Victorian-era crafts, caroling, and storytelling while sipping a cup of hot cider in a family friendly atmosphere," said Yaquina Head Manager, Janet Johnson.

The Yaquina Head Interpretive Center will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. All other areas of the park will be accessible from 8:00 a.m. to dusk.
