RENO, Nev… Wildland firefighting positions with Bureau of Land Management Nevada are open now through February. Below are the vacancy announcement numbers and deadlines to apply. Applications must be submitted by January 9, 2017 for early consideration. This year, positions are available for firefighters assigned to engines, hand crews, or helicopters as well as positions for dispatchers, materials handler and administrative support. Base hourly pay ranges from $11.61 to $20.69 per hour. Previous firefighting experience is not a requirement for entry level positions.
BLM Nevada has one of the largest firefighting programs in the continental U.S. and has seen a very active 2017 fire season. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, have a valid passport or birth certificate and a valid driver’s license, be at least 18 years old and pass a work capacity test (pack test) on the first day. Those who are hired will be seasonally employed from April through October.
