What: Perfect for families looking to spend time outdoors this holiday break, the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Forest Service have utilized the Agents of Discovery platform to create an educational "Mission" (game) to get youth active, engaged and learning about the world around them. The kids and scouts will assume the exciting role of a secret agent on a mission as they gain new insights into the natural world. Challenges (or questions) are created by staff members of the Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument and are geo triggered as kids walk the trail. Special prizes are awarded as "Agents" complete their educational "Mission." And there's cake!
Who: Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument; local elementary and middle school students from James O Jesse Highland Community Center in Palm Springs; and Girl Scouts Troop 1575.
When and Where: From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 21, at Santa Rosa & San Jacinto Mountains National Monument, 51-500 Highway 74, Palm Desert, CA 92260.
