LAS CRUCES, N.M. - From April 30 to May 4, the Bureau of Land Management Las Cruces District will be servicing the well that provides water to the Dripping Springs Visitor Center and the La Cueva picnic area. During this time, the public will only have access to portable toilets and hand washing stations, but will need to bring their own drinking water.
The BLM is working with Maverick Drilling, Inc., from Mesilla, New Mexico, to service the well and replace piping and components within the well house. The work is expected to be completed in time for weekend visitors.
Popular with visitors, the Dripping Springs Natural Area has more than four miles of hiking trails that highlight the majestic Organ Mountains and desert scrub, and low-elevation piñon-juniper and oak woodlands. In addition, it boasts excellent wildlife-viewing and environmental education opportunities. Open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, the Visitor Center offers interpretive displays, brochures and maps.
