Salem, Ore. - Work for an aquatic restoration project will result in a two-week temporary road closure of Goodpasture Road near milepost 3, and BLM Roads 17-3E-9 between June 18 through 21st and June 25 through 28th. The project is on Deer Creek, a tributary of the McKenzie River. A number of large trees will be placed in the creek that will enhance fish habitat, improve floodplains, and other riparian benefits. The BLM is committed to keeping public landscapes healthy and productive.
“The creation of log jams within the creek and along the streambanks will help create places for fish to spawn, and create cover for all life stages of salmonids in the area, which is needed throughout the McKenzie Watershed," said Acting Field Office Manager Brian Bickford.
