The following press releases was published by the U.S. Department of the Interior, Bureau of Land Management on May 16, 2018. It is reproduced in full below.

MEDFORD, Ore. - In celebration of Oregon’s Free Fishing Weekend (June 2-3), the Medford Bureau of Land Management and the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest are once again teaming up for their annual free fishing event. This partnership demonstrates BLM’s commitment to serving the American family by being good neighbors and providing recreational opportunities.

This year’s event will be held at Fish Lake Campground on Saturday, June 2, 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Fish Lake is about 20 miles from Medford, via Oregon State Highway 140 (Lake of the Woods Highway).

Fishing rods and tackle will be provided to give kids the chance to wet a line, and there will be plenty of other activities for families to participate in. Families can also learn how to measure fish and make a “fish print" painting, using real salmon and steelhead. Rangers will host ranger talks and provide grab bags as well as a Smokey Bear appearance.

For additional information, contact AJ Donnell at 541-618-2200 or the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest’s High Cascades Ranger District (Prospect) at 541-560-3400.
