ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Bureau of Land Management, U.S. Forest Service, and U.S. Department of Energy will hold a public workshop on May 31, 2018, in Albuquerque to gather input on ongoing reviews of regional energy corridors on Federal lands managed by the BLM and Forest Service.
The corridors - commonly known as “West-wide" or “Section 368" corridors - were designated under direction of Section 368 of the Energy Policy Act of 2005 to support siting of oil, gas, and hydrogen pipelines, as well as electric transmission and distribution lines. The BLM and the Forest Service designated approximately 6,000 miles of corridors, and later agreed to review the corridors in a court agreement with environmental groups.
The public workshop will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the BIA Southwest Regional Office, 1001 Indian School Road, NW, Albuquerque, NM 87104. The intent of the workshop is to get stakeholder input on specific corridors, using information from corridor review documents (abstracts). Breakout sessions will discuss the viability of potential corridor revisions identified in the abstracts. Also to be discussed are potential enhancements to interagency operating procedures. The agencies will use the input to develop a draft report.
