LAS VEGAS - Saturday was a banner day as five kids became the first Logandale Trails Junior Rangers.
BLM Las Vegas Field Office and Partners in Conservation (PIC) partnered to create an innovative adventure book that highlights responsible recreation and natural resource protection in Logandale Trails.
The program was jump-started May 19 by five interactive experiences that kids could choose from so they could complete enough activities to be a part of the inaugural class of sworn Junior Rangers. These included OHV rider and safety, nature hike, desert tortoise, Tread Lightly and stewardship project. Kids five to eight completed at least three activities and kids nine to 12 completed at least five activities.
During the swearing in ceremony, Junior Rangers promised to:
* Practice “Safety First, Every Ride, Every Time"
* Do my part to keep our desert clean
* Stay on the roads and trails when traveling through the desert
* Respect, protect and enjoy our desert
